ExtraOrdinary Educational Community Center is a place where individuals come to improve their educational status. Georgia’s Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) reported the dropout rate is currently 21 percent. A large portion of these numbers directedly correspond to students with learning deficits – special education services, and lack of home reinforcement. The unemployment rate for individuals without a high school diploma or GED is 15 percent. Individuals aged 16 to 21 years who cannot read well enough to be considered functionally literate make up 50% of these unemployed.

Our goal is to develop more educated and financially independent families in lower socio-economic communities by offering literacy and GED classes. Furthermore, it has been documented that individuals have the potential to increase their annual salary by $10,000 with a GED. The GED program will provide classes in the areas of English language arts, math, science, and social studies. The literacy classes will focus on improving the individual’s level of literacy to better prepare them for their GED classes participation and examination.

Our organization’s staff understands this population of students and are capable of building rapport with them in an effort to facilitate educational progress and change. Knowledge is power and without it the cycle of limited to no life progression has a higher rate of continuance for generations to come in lower economic communities.
